3 June 2006
The main activity for the last couple of months has been on the taxonomy development. For those interested in this development, general information can be found on the Activities page, and detailed documentation on the Taxonomy page. Our main focus, other than completing the taxonomy development, is on transitioning the jurisdiction from its startup and development phase. Much of the awareness battle has been won and we now look to the new challenges of maintaining the momentum as XBRL takes hold. This may require new approaches, a different business model and a new set of skills and resources. The Board is currently investigating the options in this regard and will report in the very near future on a plan to take XBRL Australia forward. Until we have the business model confirmed, we will defer admitting new members and taking subscriptions. We should have this resolved by the end of June. If anyone has ideas or suggestions on what they believe the most approriate model for XBRL Australia is going forward, we would love to hear from you at xbrlau@xbrl.org. We are also planning to transition this site to www.xbrl.org/au to take advantage of the features available to us from the revamped international website. We are now testing the functionality of the site and will transition over to it in the next month or so. We will redirect from www.xbrl.org.au and www.xbrl.com.au to the new URL when it is established. For information on the latest news internationally go to the XBRL International web page. ArchiveWe have instituted an archive of these News pages for those interested in a little history. Click on the date below to see the News page as at that date.
